Have you ever had an amazing session, where your client blew it outta the water?? You are so excited to get them into the reveal and can barely contain yourself. Suddenly, it is the reveal and you watch with a smile on your face as your client watches their beautiful body show up on the screen….and then she tells you everything she hates about her body.
WOMP.

This is the exact experience I had that made me create Body Image Bootcamp. after noticing that some clients (about 3%) needed more mental work than just an empowering photo shoot, I set out to learn everything I could about body image, the psychology behind it, and what we currently do to foster our negative behaviors. I also started to look at resources available to the average human who has a less than desirable feeling towards their body , but unless you suffer from a full fledged eating disorder, there is no mental health support groups or classes specifically targeted to body image....so I created one.

It wasn’t long, however, before I realized that myself AND my fellow photographers needed it even more than those clients!! Empowering others is hard work, but when we head home at the end of the day and hate on ourselves, it can also pile on feelings of imposter syndrome and thoughts of “how can I help others if I can’t even help myself???” Well, this Body Image Bootcamp was created just. for. that.

The intent of Body Image Bootcamp is to explore YOUR body image, educate YOU on why you believe the bullshit you do, and empower YOU to take control of your thought processes, thus enabling you to move forward and work towards more important things! (you know, like running a successful business, making change in the world, and role modeling positive behavior for your clients….)

By doing this course as a group you will be surrounded by others who are here to help you as they help themselves and everyone is in this together. I have been witness to the power of people healing together in person & I want you to embrace the magic.

OUR HOME

We will be staying at the beautiful Punta del Cielo in the heart Puerto Vallarta. This beautiful home will provide the perfect background for our self exploration (Don't forget your bathing suit - but also don't be surprised if you forget to wear it!)
Things to note:
-All rooms are shared by 2 people in 1 king size bed or 2 single beds
-There is Wifi, but we encourage you to consider “getting off the grid” to fully process while you are here!

In addition to glorious accommodations we also have our own chefs who will be creating delicious meals and give us an opportunity to break bread together, discussing our thoughts of the day, reveling in the magic that is being party of a group. People who never met become close friends at the end of BIBC.

THE ITINERARY

OCT 18 (DAY 1): ARRIVAL / STRENGTHS BRIEFING

The first day will see everyone arriving to our beautiful home located in beautiful Puerto Vallarta. We will have transportation pre-arranged FROM the airport to our home! Once everyone has arrived and gotten settled, we will spend time briefing everyone on their Clifton Strengths Finders results and then this evening we will share a delicious dinner and get to know each other a bit better!

OCT 19-20 (Day 2-3): BODY IMAGE BOOTCAMP INTENSIVE

Standardly, Body Image Bootcamp is facilitated over the course of 6-8 weeks, but because of the nature of the retreat, we will be putting you through the intensive. Once you, yourself, have gone through the Body Image Bootcamp, you will be able to provide your clients first hand experiences of how the information and self discovery changed your life and helped you on your own self love journey. I will walk you through a variety of exercises/information split up over 2 days, utilizing art journal, writing, and a handful of other therapeutic techniques that you will be able to use as you continue to work on your body + self relationship.

WARNING: DURING THESE TWO DAYS WE WILL BE EXPLORING YOUR PAST AND MAY BRING UP SOME TRAUMATIC OR TRIGGERING SITUATIONS. THERE WILL BE A LOT OF EMOTIONS, BUT I THINK IT'S NECESSARY FOR THEM TO BE FELT...YOU WILL BE ASKED TO SHARE (AS YOU WILL BE DOING THE SAME FOR YOUR CLIENTS) BUT YOU ONLY HAVE TO SHARE WHATEVER YOU ARE COMFORTABLE.

OCT 21 (Day 4): BEACH DAY + PHOTOSHOOTS

The 3rd full day of the retreat will be split into 2 portions. The first half of the day will be us adventuring out of the house to a local beach for us to enjoy sun tanning, sand, and sea! After lunch you will be able to join Beth for a tour of town or head back to the house for some down time! We will also schedule half of the massages for this day! During this time you are also welcome to arrange photoshoots of each other to take advantage of our glorious accommodations and beautiful surroundings - but no pressure!! You can also choose to spend the entire day at the house if that is what you feel called to do!

OCT 22 (DAY 5): MEXICOOOOOO

This extra day is added in to give you a day of reflection and adventure. We have included massages in your registration, so we will finish up the other massages. During the day you are welcome to enjoy the beautiful landscape that is Puerto Vallarta, visit the beach, hang around the home or arrange an adventure (Beth can help you find some good ones!!)

OCT 23 (DAY 6): TIME TO SAY GOODBYE

As they say, all good things must come to an end. We will have pre-arranged transportation back to the airport (times will be available once know how many people are coming!)

Because the content of Body Image Bootcamp is so heavy, we will be taking breaks and have our late afternoons/evenings free to explore, go to the beach or just relax and enjoy Puerta Vaillarta. There will be no shortage of tacos and good times.

Teri helped me see that it is just a body, not good or bad. She reminded us all that it takes us places, allows us to experience so many amazing things and helps us love those that mean so much to us. Our size doesn’t matter. Our stretchmarks don’t matter. Any “blemish” that we think is bad….is not.

I knew that in order to live a fully happy life I needed to embrace who I am. I started with a simple exercise that Teri showed us. Standing in the mirror naked, taking in all of me-good and what I perceived to be bad- would begin to flip my script. This was my turning point.

I know I never would have started on this journey without Teri, her love, her tough love, and her gift of friendship. Body Image Bootcamp changed my life forever…and it is only getting better!

Now, y’all know I am big on expectations, so I will let you know that there are a lot of topics we discuss in this course that may make you feel incredibly uncomfortable, incredibly defensive, and incredibly hurt, angry, and upset. This is not uncommon when we are working to break down power structures and systems of oppression that have been designed to keep us small, insignificant and quiet. That being said, this is NOT a workshop for the faint of heart or for the “fragile ego”. You will have to confront your privilege (we all have it), your fatphobia (we all have it), and your belief systems about diet culture(we all have them). IF you are NOT ready for this work, that is absolutely okay, I want you to come prepared with an open mind, open heart, and willingness to learn and grow! If you want to proceed, then here are:
