Glam Mama Sessions ~ Winnipeg Boudoir Photography

Last year a handful of my colleagues had new babies and I found myself inspired to take my previous project of the post par-TUM project and combine it with my traditional boudoir style to create these Glam Mama Sessions. It gives mum a chance to feel beautiful with her post partum body, an amazing bonding experience with her beautiful little bebe and of course, amazing images to document it all. In my experience with the post par-TUM project, I found that women had an easier time accepting their changed body if they had images of the reality of what their bodies looked like, but also the images helped to correlate that beautiful bod with the miracle that it produced, leaving mom feeling more secure in her body image.

Now, different than your traditional newborn photos, is that I WILL NOT take any photos of baby alone - trust me, there are WAAAAAY better baby photographers than me, it’s a dedicated art for sure. My job is to capture the relationship between mom and baby and only hold baby while mom goes through outfit changes.

Now for the main deets:

Hair & Makeup: Not required, but something that can be organized for you. If you prefer to do your own or have it done outside of the studio that’s fine - but we can also arrange it being done for you.

Wardrobe: I have a handful of beautiful, glamorous sheer robes here at the studio for you to choose from in addition to some vintage slip dresses for our portrait styled shots. Just like boudoir, less is best with these sessions. All you need to bring is a pair of panties that you feel beautiful in (or none!)

Baby’s Wardrobe: I am jealous of babies because they can exist naked without the public losing their shit for the most part. So, I recommend little to no clothing for baby because baby bums are absolutely super duper cute and they will be 1000000 X more comfortable. Feel free to bring something to swaddle them in if that’s their jam.

Timing: Like our standard shoots, we will usually start at 10am for hair and makeup, but the shoot itself will be dictated by baby. They have their own agenda and the more you fight it, the worse it becomes - so, I have learned to just go with the flow and adapt to the energy that baby is throwing out there. If baby wants to eat, we can do breastfeeding photos, if baby pees, we clean it up, if baby cries, we coddle - WHATEVER WE NEED TO DO. That being said, the timeframe for shoots like these are usually about 30-45 minutes TOPS.

Bringing friends/family: I recommend bringing your partner, sibling, or friend whom you trust to watch baby while you get hair & makeup done if they are the type of baby that doesn’t like to sleep. If you don’t have someone, I can arrange to have someone here to watch baby for you!
