To say that our world has just gotten shaken and then stirred in the last 2 weeks would be an understatement. I don’t know about you, but I’ve mostly been moving about in a bit of a fog trying to stay focused and strategize a game plan for our new normal, but also trying to deal with the copious emotions that coming flooding in when I realize just how drastic my business is going to change - it’s tough. Not to mention, I’m now at home with my husband more than ever before - and don’t get me wrong, he’s a great guy - BUT I’M A STRONG INDEPENDENT WOMAN WHO DON’T NEED NO MAN AROUND 24 HOURS A DAY. It’s just a lot to handle right now, BUT I am also blessed to have a home to stay in, company if I want it (even when I don’t), and at least one of us is able to keep working (hint: it’s not me). Within 2 weeks, we’ve added new words to our vocabulary and created systems and processes that never existed before - and if that doesn’t tell you the capabilities of humans, I don’t know what does! That being said, though I am unable to use my camera to help empower you, I can still use my knowledge and TRULY empower you to get your own bomb ass selfies to keep you (and your lovers) entertained and feeling saucy! So, without further adieu, below are 5 tips to get you through self isolation and keep up that love for your changing bod.

DIRECTION OF LIGHT MATTERS

So, what I mean by that is where your “light source” is will make a difference on how you look in your images. Flat light is the most ideal light for those just venturing into take selfies/self portraits, BUT if you want to get creative you can also use sidelight or back create different looks. Below are examples of the 3 different ways to light your babely self (flat light, sidelight, back light) The key is to look at where the light is falling on your face/body as it can create some interesting shadows. The middle image, you can see it looks darker under my eyes compare to the first and third image where the light was in front of and behind me.

Do your best to avoid having light come from below or straight from above. This creates shadows in interesting places - it’s not bad, it’s just different! IF you are using pot lights, simply angle your face up to them until the light evens out on the side of your face!

WEAR SOMETHING YOU FEEL CONFIDENT IN

Just like with your boudoir session with me, I urge you to wear something you feel confident and powerful in, not something you “THINK” is sexy. I remember the first time I wanted to take some sexy photos I tried on thigh highs, garters, and the whole shebang - I looked bangin’ but I FELT LIKE I WAS IN SAUSAGE CASING!!! It just wasn’t for me. My go to outfit is usually nude if I am being completely honest, or a crop top with high waisted panty! Whatever makes you feel like the goddess you are, is what you want to wear. Part of taking sexy photos is the experience of dressing up FOR YOU.

WHATEVER IS CLOSEST TO THE CAMERA IS BIGGEST

Regardless what kind of camera you are using to take your image, the standard of rule of thumb is whatever is closest to the camera is biggest. Want a juicy booty shoot, point it at the camera? Don’t want your feet to be the highlight (or do? no shame in that game), make sure if you are lying down your head is closer to the camera than your feet!

I am always on a bit of diagonal with my head and boobs closer to the camera, but you can still see most of my body!

EDITING APPS

Take your image to the next level by playing around with some fun edits! As a photographer, one of the things that makes my work MY work, is the editing style. Editing can change the mood and feel of an image and nowadays there are so many ways that you can do this straight from your phone! A few of my favorite apps include: VSCO, Lightroom for Mobile, InstaLab, Vintage 1967, Inshot (for video), and Snapseed! Look these up in your app store and you will find a lot more to get some really cool effects!

YOU HAVE TO BE OKAY TO BE VULNERABLE

Out of all the advice, this is probably THE most important. If you only stick with safe facial expressions and poses, your images will fall flat. If you can channel a character for the image you are taking it makes it easier to achieve awesome shots! You have to understand that out of 100 photos, maybe only 5 will look good - BUT you need to go move through the other 95 to get to the 5 good ones! It’s a process and it can be fun if you want it to! Always remember that they are just photos and they can hold as much power as you let them! I also recommend not deleting them even if you don’t like them! In my experience, when you come back to them a few days/weeks/months later you will say “OH MY GOD, LOOK HOW CUTE I AM!”
