Look At Your Body And Call It Beautiful {Vegas Diaries} ~ International Boudoir Photographer
We are so quick to tell our bodies how much we detest every roll, wrinkle, or "abnormality" but very rarely do we hug the softness, caress the bones, and whisper sweet nothings to our vessel, our one stable home. I headed out to the desert with a bunch of amazing boudoir photographers to celebrate our curves and bodies in all their glory and I managed to get one babe down to nothing. Miss Kristina of Owl and Otter: Soul Artist stripped down to the beautiful outfit that is her body and became a goddess, reconnected to nature. With the full moon behind her, the salt flats laid out before her, and nothing but her strong, fearless body that helped her travel across the world to the point where we would meet, she OWNED everything that made her amazing. My mission as an empowerment photographer is to reunite women with their natural, goddess-like selves but my goal is to also increase the amount of diverse bodies we see online and in social media to make rolls, wrinkles, and "abnormalities" normalized because we are perfect the way we are. If we see bodies of all shapes and sizes in their natural state, we will look at our own and see the beauty that makes us original. This shoot inspired me to start a project this summer, photographing all bodies in the natural landscapes around us (I will wait until Spring for us Canadians!) and then create a beautiful coffee table book that is not only full of beautiful imagery, but also inspirational in all aspects: the women braving themselves and baring their bodies and souls, a showcase of a variety of bodies to show that there isn't ONE ideal, but rather we are all amazing in whatever form we take as long as we are good humans, and their stories about their journey to self love and authenticity! If you want to join Kristina in this amazing project (I will be traveling to a few different places this year, so keep an eye out if I am coming to you!!) simply email me at: thpstudios@gmail.com with the subject: I AM A GODDESSIf you are not ready to get nudie in the neighbourhood, that is alright. I simply ask that you take some time to reacquaint yourself with your body. Instead of pinching and sighing in disgust at your softness or bits, simply caress it and decide that your bits are beautiful. As you do this over and over again, you will start to see yourself differently. You know how we wish someone would tell us "I love you"? Well, your body wants the same. If you can't tell yourself that, how can you expect someone else to say it for you? Look at yourself in the mirror...open your eyes, take a deep breath, and start a relationship in loving yourself. You deserve it.“We all begin the process before we are ready, before we are strong enough, before we know enough; we begin a dialogue with thoughts and feelings that both tickle and thunder within us. We respond before we know how to speak the language, before we know all the answers, and before we know exactly to whom we are speaking.” ― Clarissa Pinkola Estés, Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype
She Thought She Wasn't Fucking Good Enough ~ Winnipeg Boudoir Photographer
Miss R.'s shoot was a first for me. She booked her session in the morning (not uncommon).....OF HER WEDDING (uncommon!) How cool is that? While she was getting married that day, the intent for her session had very little to do with her lucky partner...it was all about her! Her post after she saw her photos had me in tears. She. Was. Amazing.Of course I thought she was awesome, and I absolutely love that she fully trusted me to do whatever I wanted with her, but I am going to let this hottie tell you what the experience meant to her, because at the end of the day it's never about me...it's always, always, ALWAYS about HER.I got back from my reveal session with Teri Hofford Photography and I just wanna say... Wow.I decided on a boudoir empowerment session for myself because I had too much issues with hating myself and the way my body's current state is. I'm in the process of transitioning to reach my goal, but I want to be able to actually love myself without a doubt to actually see myself in a different light. There are various times when I don't get as much likes on a photo, having a shitty day, or do something mentally exhausting where I just wanna say "I'm not fucking good enough!" Or "I'm ugly," "I'm too fat," "Nobody wants to see all that," or in general fear that I'd be bullied more about my looks than I was in high school. Since I seen what she's been doing out there to help build body positivity with women out there, I decided to go for it for myself for me. Being someone with anxiety, it's hard to see myself as more than enough. Sure the hubby might check out the end results and stuff, but HE SEES ME EVERY DAY SO ANYTHING HE SAYS I THINK IS BULL CRAP WHEN HE COMPLIMENTS ME.I was nervous as hell in the beginning because of my white sheet session, but when I got into it I felt more confident with little I was wearing (sexy outfit, done up hair, and fierce makeup). When I got there today, I was excited in going but at the same time having doubts in myself to see if i actually looked good or not. Having a surge of anxiety, a lot of thoughts in my head like "what if they're not as good as I was hoping?" "My booty probably won't look that good," "My boobies only look good from some angles," "I have really bad skin (keratosis pilaris + stretchmarks), I'm afraid ... they would ruin the pic."She sat me down, showed me a beautiful sildeshow that I was holding back my waterworks because... After seeing the first few I was like, "Oh damn, I'M FIERCE AS FUCK! I'm fierce as fuck no matter what size I am." And that's the kind of image I want to remind myself of that I am me, THAT IS ME! WOW! And some of these pics are way too hot for Facebook. Lmao!!! Heck I even thought I had a nice pair! I was wowed and I'm still wowed!Definitely worth it, if you're struggling to see yourself in the way others see you in a positive light... GO SEE TERI! The journey is real!!! For the month of November, I did an Empowerment Project featuring babes and the stories that are imprinted upon their skin in the form of scars, stretch marks, and so on. I came up with this concept after coming across a meme about the Japanese art of repair, using gold to fuse the broken pieces together, thus making it more beautiful.I invited these babes into the studio and while I painted over their skin, they told me their stories about what brought them in and that is what you will see below. You can also check out our other Empowerment Projects here!
Sassy {inspiration session} ~ Winnipeg Boudoir Photographer
{I have featured Chloe before on my blog in regards to her eating disorder so before anyone comments about thinness and starts to skinny shame, I am going to nip it in the bud. You don't know her journey, therefore you have no idea how hard she works to maintain a balance in her life. Doing photoshoots helps her build up her confidence and empowers her to see herself differently (which is exactly why I do what I do!!) so keep it to yourself. We are here to build up ALL women and promote a body inclusive environment. Also...there will be lots of nipples...so if you don't like that, byeeeee. }I have had this vision in my head for awhile, so I got my stellar team together: Kelly Marie Woodford of Sapphire Hair Lounge, Nicole Velasquez of Envy Beauty & Makeup Services, and Miss Chloe whom you've seen before! Since getting my new studio I wanted to shoot something vintage, romantic, and free flowing, but once we had the hair & makeup done, I had so many other things I wanted to do as well! So I challenged Chloe (who previously has only modeled traditional boudoir styles with me) to get a little crazy, a little free and REALLY model and she KILLLLLLLLED IT. I used our time together to test out new techniques and really have fun with the styling and session all together. Again, this is how I treat myself...by creating without boundaries. For booking in January, you will have the opportunity to get a free large, processed filmstrip like the images below!! Yay! So the above images were just an inspiration that happened the day of the shoot, but here's what the actual shoot entailed:
